Erwin, Tennessee is the Unicoi county seat situated adjacent to the Cherokee National Forest in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains. The Native American word U'nika is said to mean white, hazy, fog-like, or fog-draped. A Cherokee word meaning white is spelled u-ne-ga.

Nolichucky River Rafting
White water excitement and beautiful scenery through the deepest gorge in the south. Outfitters for the Nolichucky are based in Erwin, TN.
Buckeye Falls
Located in the Cherokee National Forest, it is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies.
National Fish Hatchery
A 42 acre complex with facilities for the breeding of rainbow trout.
Big Mary
Big Mary was buried in a big pit in front of the railroad shop doors. A tribute to the town that would rather not be known as The Town That Hanged The Elephant.
