Meter Reading and Billing: |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Meters will be read by Erwin Utilities' personnel on approximate
thirty (30) day cycles, and bills are rendered within five (5) days following
the reading. Bills are due and payable upon receipt. Failure to receive
a bill does not excuse customer from payment. Each route has a specific
due date. Please check with an Erwin Utilities' clerk for your route and
monthly due date.

Budget Billing Plan: |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This plan is available upon request to all residential
customers who have been receiving service at their present location for
at least twelve (12) months. Requests for information may be made in person
at the office, by phone, or by mail. This plan provides residential customers
a method of paying their monthly electric bills based on the average of
their last twelve-month's billing plus any adjustments for rate increases
which have occurred during that twelve-month period.

| Social Security customers whose due date falls at the end
of the month may have their billing due date adjusted to the 5th of the
month.

Transfer from a customer's checking or savings account. Customer's signature and

Water:
Each residential customer shall pay a deposit. In lieu of a deposit, an approved letter of good credit from the previous supplier of electricity indicating a good payment record over the past twelve (12) months with no more than one (1) late payment will be accepted. A homeowner's deposit under A. above shall be refunded, without interest, if Customer has no more than one (1) late payment in the last twelve (12) months nor been disconnected for nonpayment. A renter's deposit under A. and B. above shall be refunded, without interest, if Customer has no more than one (1) late payment per year in the last twenty four (24) months nor been disconnected for nonpayment. Upon termination of service, any retained deposit will be applied against unpaid bills of Customer, and if any balance remains after application of deposit, the balance shall be refunded, without interest, to Customer. If Customer transfers service from current location to a new location, Customer's deposit is transferable to the new location provided all current charges are paid in full at the current location. A certificate of occupancy from the Town of Erwin Building Inspector is required for all new structures requiring Electric, Water and Wastewater services inside the city.

| Commercial Deposits | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Commercial deposits are based upon two (2) months estimated
average bill. When service is disconnected
for any reason, the deposit will be applied to the unpaid account balance.

Special Lighting |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Security lights, parking lot lights, and flood lights will
be installed at the customer's request. The monthly charge includes installation,
normal maintenance and power. Monthly charge depends on the light size
and whether a transformer or pole is needed just for the light.

RESIDENTIAL TWO-STAGE SURGE PROTECTION |

| STAGE 1
Meterbase Protection Erwin Utilities offers meterbase surge suppression units at the cost of $3.50 per month with an agreement of an initial term of five (5) years. Billing will be monthly and will be added to the customer’s regular electric bill. STAGE 2

If a ground rod cannot be located Erwin Utilities will install one at the cost of $25.00, or you may contact an electrician for installation.
